Course management as a skill is underrated by almost all golfers. I can’t remember how many shots Jack Nicklaus claimed he could knock off his Amateur playing partners’ scores, just by giving them advice on what shot to play. He felt that too many golfers were not just reckless with their decision making, they were “unthinking”. That is, they gave the shot no consideration other than how far was it, and what club do I hit (if I hit it true) to go that distance.

On the other hand, some of you will start worrying that this is a complex skill with time consuming analysis that is going to slow down your round, and everyone behind you. Actually, it might shorten the time you take to play a round! In fact we can make this really simple.

Let’s take all the Par 3’s for instance. Try playing the next few rounds without aiming at the flag once. On each hole make this a very simple decision process. How far is it to the middle of the green; where is the worse trouble, over the back or in the front? Club accordingly to get to the middle, but definitely take out the trouble (be inclined to club up if the trouble is at the front and vice versa). Now, aim carefully at the center of the green, ignoring the flag position, and swing.

Compare your total on the Par 3’s for the next few rounds with the previous rounds. And if you think your handicap is too good for this tip, then know that on Tour there are some good golfers who follow this advice.

Golf Instruction

Our Golf Instruction Programs are a
well-structured, highly compressive program geared to long-term
improvement and lowering your golf score.

Improvement takes three steps: instruction, efficient practice, and
properly fit equipment.

  • Instruction provides knowledge and helps to
    create more effective movement patterns
  • Practice reinforces what was learned and assists
the golfer in creating a more automatic stroke/swing with less
    conscious thought
  • Properly-fit equipment will reward your good
swings, increase your enjoyment of the game, and free you from
making compensations in your set up and/or swing to offset the ill
effects of equipment that is incompatible with your body or golf

The Golf Instruction Programs are built around these concepts
and provides the foundation for our individual and group instruction.
Whether you receive one-on-one instruction, semi-private lessons with
relatives, friends, or coworkers or enroll in one of our popular COED,
Women’s, or Specialty Clinics, supervised practice is an integral part
of your program. Additionally, rest assured that your instructor will
review your equipment with you and make sure your club length, lie,
lofts, grip size, shaft flex, overall weight, and set make up are right
for you.

Each instructor has a supervised practice schedule – a copy of which can
be obtained in the pro shop. First, find the days and times your
instructor holds supervised practice, show up for all or any part of
that time, purchase any size bucket of range balls, find an open
practice mat, and your instructor will check in on you. While this is
entirely optional, it is HIGHLY recommended for the reasons cited above.

If you do not yet have golf clubs, no problem – please DO NOT run out
and buy them before your instructor can evaluate your swing! We will
supply clubs for lessons or clinics, if needed, and will be happy to
help you explore your options when you are ready to invest in clubs.

Golf Club Fitting

We Fit Golf Equipment

We are you source for custom fit golf equipment. We offer a wide variety of FREE fittings:

We can test and analyze a player’s launch conditions and recommend the proper model, loft, shaft, shaft flex, shaft length, grip type and grip size.

We can test the player’s iron launch conditions to identify the best model and then dynamically fit length, lie angle, shaft type, shaft flex, grip type and grip size custom specifications.

Long Game Fitting is to provide the player with the proper combination of fairway woods, utility (hybrids) clubs and long irons that provide playable trajectories at preferred yardage gaps.

Our wedge fitting will match loft, bounce, sole design, and club face spin characteristics with a player’s swing technique. Consistent yardage gaps combined with optimal control and spin allow players to better capitalize on scoring opportunities with their wedges.

Choosing the right golf ball for your game can make a dramatic difference in your performance on the golf course. As with club fitting, ball fitting can guide you to a golf ball that maximizes your game.

Do you ever wonder why you are constantly hitting the same 5 clubs in the bag? It is because your set make up is not correct for you. We can analyze you swing and tell you which clubs you should be in your bag.
